Music Reviews & Comments

Picture of David M Saunders

Composer David M Saunders on Pindown by Jon Wygens

This is beautiful, Jon. I love the constant sense of movement you achieve through the antiphonal nature of the arrangement, despite being an inherently slow piece - very cleverly put together. I also...

The percussion elements in this are spot on, really nice

Picture of Jules Bromley

Composer Jules Bromley on un ange passe by Michael Bishop

Really enjoyed this michael. Abstract footage is really hard to write to and I think you did a great job. Use of voice was particularly effective, and the rest of the arrangement was modern and fresh.

Picture of Dov Waterman

Composer Dov Waterman on Space Mirrors by Wayne Urquhart

Dark and stirring the cello just builds and builds. The strings blends beautifully with the horns. Definately put this on my epic playlist.

Picture of Ian Toone

Member Ian Toone on No Time To Think by Ed David Watkins

Well-crafted action cue, which shows particualr mastery of brass instrumentation, supported by impressive percussion, string and woodwind textures and selective use of chorus. Captures the dramatic nature...

Picture of Ian Toone

Member Ian Toone on Countdown by Ed David Watkins

Impressive orchestration, with some particularly good brass voicings, in the tradition of Strauss and John WIlliams. Good use of constrast in dynamics and instrumentation along the way to the Aufhebung...

Picture of Ian Toone

Member Ian Toone on Newborn by Ed David Watkins

Nice minimalist piece, which captures the sentiment well without overdoing the emotionalism. Heavy reverb on piano main theme against sustained strings works well. Good orchestration and mixing of timbres...

Picture of John Llewellyn Brees

Composer John Llewellyn Brees on N+ Main Theme by Joris de Man

Absolutely love it, some great synth sounds

Picture of 'Team Picks'

Member 'Team Picks' on The Last Battle by Jon Nicholls

We like how you've used the real choir with the full-on Brazilian percussion. It must've been stunning in performance! The exoticism of the track is provided on no small part by the vocal techniques used,...

Picture of 'Team Picks'

Member 'Team Picks' on Agnus Dei by John Llewellyn Brees

We love the wash of sound and the relaxing, ethereal textures. You've mixed the vocal elements seamlessly with the pads. Great work!
