Composer News - Bromley Scores with Sharks

Composer Jules Bromley recently completed scoring Shark Bite Beach for Furnace TV on Discovery USA.

The 1 hour documentary will feature in Discovery’s Shark Week 2010 and recounts one shocking month in 2008, when the Southern Pacific coastline of California and Mexico played host to an unprecedented sequence of brutal attacks. Through interviews and reconstructions, it features survivor and witness accounts, and explores the reality of shark attacks, and the media and online exposure which accompanies them in the twenty first century.

Jules remarks, 'this was a really interesting film to score, not least because [director] Gareth Johnson wanted to make it as a mini action movie, meaning it needed almost wall-to-wall music, and constant quick-fire shifts in pace and mood. It also stretched the conventional requirements of natural history scoring, by demanding different approaches to building tension for the attacks – there are only so many times you can throw string ostinatos and brass swells at a scene before it starts to lose impact, so I had to explore other styles and genres to deliver the same effect'. Further info.

Among other projects, Jules' recent work featured on the Modern Warfare 2 TV commercial, and Ugly Betty Series 3 trailer (Channel 4). He's recently delivered production music for the 2010 World Cup and regularly writes for Universal Music, Boost and Big Screen Music.

Jules' company, Trailermen, are a boutique music production company, specialising in custom scoring for film, TV commercials and trailers. Visit the Trailermen website.
